Hello, I’m Catt

Equipped with five years of Customer Service background and at least seven years of being a full-time freelance Virtual Assistant, I have taken the leap in the field of User Experience.

My goal is to become a part of an organization that will create and revolutionize technology for people with disabilities and those who need it the most.

My UX Story

In 2020 during the spike of the Corona virus pandemic, my husband bought tickets to  an online UX conference. One of the guest speakers was a visually challenged person and he talked about how technology has helped him adapt to the fast changing world and the importance of accessibility in design.

It was like a lightbulb moment... I realized I can actually help people thru design! I knew from that moment that this is the path I want to pursue. I took courses, attended bootcamps, read blogs and consumed audiobooks to learn. So here I am today, trying to do something for the society thru design while constantly working on myself.

Values

But first, empathy

Always come from a place of help - this is something I have been practicing especially as a freelancer. It is aware of and understanding feelings, thoughts, and experiences of another without judging. Or as others say “Putting oneself in another’s shoes”.

Leadership is more than just a title

It is a responsibility. It's a vocation. It is your capacity to influence, empower, and inspire others to reach a certain goal.

Continuous Learning

Humility in accepting that you don’t know everything. Borrowing from Steve Jobs, there’s always one more thing to learn. I make sure to learn something new every year. As of this writing, I am currently studying FSL (Filipino Sign Language) and Designing for Accessibility. I hope to apply my learnings to my future product designs.

Uniqueness and Authenticity

Everyone is privileged to be uniquely gifted but one has to have the courage to believe and accept one’s self truly. Creativity breeds uniqueness and authenticity. You don’t need to be perfect, just genuine.
